Planning for Halloween: Glass Bottle

Hello! It's almost the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas. For me, it's Halloween. I love the spookiness, the dressing up, the decorations, everything. So I always plan out a lot of projects for this time of year, and I love to go way beyond the card and make decorations for my home. This month, the Imagine Artists in Residence are creating "Holiday Planning" projects, and this is mine.

I started off with this small bottle that held syrup from one of my favorite restaurants, Cracker Barrel. I love that they give you these individual bottles when you order pancakes, French Toast, etc. I always bring them home to use as storage for sequins, seed beads, etc.

The bottles have these great embossed designs which make decorating simple. I decided to use my Studio Glaze in St. Valentine, as these shapes reminded me of drops of blood. I laid the bottle down on to a paper towel to keep it from rolling around. But in the end, I wound up just holding it to add the color.

I used the pointed Doodlestix to apply Gothic Purple to the triangles at the top. I squirted only a couple of drops on my craft mat since you don't need much at all. I repeated this process with Jet Black StazOn Studio Glaze for the pyramid shapes below the drops. I felt that the bottle needed more to really "scream" Halloween, so I free-handed some bats around the bottom of the bottle, also with Jet Black.

The cap was originally brown, so I removed it from the bottle and rubbed it into my StazOn Jet Black ink pad. Some of the brown still shows, but it "aged" it nicely, and I really like the  end result.

This was a really fun and simple project, depending on how involved you get with adding things to the lower portion of the bottle. I have a few more of these little guys, and I can see decorating them all differently. I love that the Studio Glaze is permanent on glass, and you don't need to bake it on. That's all for me today. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
