Fun with Strange Skin!

You may not have heard of Strange Skin, but prepare to be educated! This company was started by my sister Pamela, and her boyfriend Jorge. If you’ve been a follower of mine for a while, you have probably seen me work with some of the wickedly cool images. Today, I bring you not one, but 2 cards featuring their fang-tastic images. I had originally planned on creating a card with one of their zombie images for Macabre Monday, but then I found out that Strange Skin was about to release a whole mess of new digis! So of course, I had to play with those (being the big sis totally has it’s perks!)

So let us begin with Macabre Monday #75: Flesh-Eating Frenzy!

You may have seen this image before. My Twisted Sistah, Lady Brayton has done magical things with this image. This is my first attempt. I colored the image with a mix of my pencils and watercolor markers. I made sure that I kept the colors mottled…I didn’t want a smooth texture. I wanted a little bit of grit and grime, even though some of my color choices were bright.

Enter the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo punch. Twice.

And, I just had to include the butcher’s knife! The perfect embellishment! What a fugly bunch, huh? Now on to my other card with 2 new release images!

The concept behind these images is pretty cool. Pam drew all of the keys…and Jorge drew coordinating heart shaped locks to go with them. Brilliant! I instantly fell in love with Pam’s Skeleton Key and Jorge’s rib cage heart.

The key was also colored with a combo of markers and pencil.

I remembered about this punch I had just gotten (EK Success)..I thought it mimicked the rib cage really well! I punched it twice and layered it for a shadow effect.

The swirls are from Inkadinkado, I thought they worked really well here. So, would you like a little more background on Strange Skin? Here’s a hilarious blurb about the company.

"Strange Skin is a company run by, began by, and will one day be ended by, Pamela Bowman and Jorge Garcia. Until that fateful day comes, we provide very real and eager-to-be-purchased products to hypothetical potential customers. Such products include (but are not limited to): jewelry, t-shirts, toys, various other trinkets, and our newest product, digis! Oh hell yes! Though digis exist purely in the technological world of confusing neon green blips and bleeps, they can be made physical upon purchase with a simple print out. From then on the journey has begun! Do anything you want with our digis! Spruce up your ransom notes, or add a distinguished flourish to your morbid scrapbooks that once only contained yellowed newspaper clippings and victims' ears (not so hum-drum anymore, sucker)! Just one purchase gets you an unlimited supply you can use until your printer explodes or a virus deletes your backup files. But what am I saying? You know how these things work. We here at Strange Skin strain the thin membrane of our gray matter that dictates creativity in order to bring you the most unique, daring, and admittedly sometimes cliched digital illustrations for your anything-you-want-to-do-with-it-ing pleasure. We hope you enjoy our current line-up and check back in the very near future (later tonight) for even more incentive to question how much more you love being emailed some sweet-ass artwork over that lame stupid money that's just sitting there surviving this recession somehow. Halloween is our favorite time of the year and we believe our current and soon-forthcoming collections reflect that. We only hope our joy for that season spreads to you. After all, we are here to serve joy. And to serve you. Bone appetit! "- Strange Skin

I hope you like my offerings for today. And I hope you visit the Strange Skin store. Their stuff is awesome! Have an inspiring day!!!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
